Philpott Lake



Philpott Lake is a 2,880-acre man-made lake located in the Southwestern portion on Franklin County that borders Patrick and Pittsylvania Counties. The lake is owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and is managed primarily for flood control and hydroelectric power generation.

The is no residential development along the picturesque shorelines of Philpott Lake, however, there are numerous boat launch facilities, campgrounds, picnic areas, beaches and hiking trails.

The cool mountain waters and pristine shoreline offers lake goers the choice of a quiet cove all to themselves or family fun at one of the many campgrounds and beaches.
